## Summary

The City of Edinburgh Council has completed a contract award for the provision of a Category 1 C Shared House, aimed at accommodating individuals or couples in need of temporary housing. The contract, valued at £596,410, became active on 28th April 2022 following a selective procurement method under a restricted procedure. The relevant location for this procurement is Edinburgh, within the UKM75 region, ensuring that suitable housing solutions are provided to accommodate up to forty-five residents. The tender process involved one bid, which was successfully submitted by AAA Guest house Ltd.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses in the housing and accommodation services sector, particularly those focusing on temporary housing solutions. Companies that specialise in managing shared accommodations or providing supportive housing facilities would be particularly well-suited to engage with this type of contract. Given the ongoing demand for suitable temporary accommodation, businesses that can ensure compliance with housing regulations while offering quality facilities could see significant growth potential through such public procurement efforts.

## Notice

This contract is for the provision of Shared House. A Shared House is accommodation with up to forty-five bedrooms (any properties with more rooms must have prior agreement with the Council). Each household (usually an individual or a couple) must have their own lockable bedroom, access to bathroom, living room and kitchen (see service specification for detail for each rooms requirements) It is expected that turnover of rooms will be low. It can take up to two years or more for people assessed as homeless to be offered alternative accommodation. Average length of stay for Shared Houses is approximately 5 months though some are significantly higher or lower than this. Priority will be given to accommodation that does not breach the Unsuitable Accommodation Order by providing either self-contained properties within a block with staff on site 24 hours a day or a shared property which provides each household with exclusive use of toilet and personal washing facilities and access to a living room and kitchen which may be shared with other households. To be deemed as suitable, accommodation must also be accessible 24 hours a day.
