## Summary

The Scottish Borders Council has awarded a contract for a Digital Primary School Homeworking Software Solution, valued at £87,700, through an open procurement method. This award, part of the 'services' category, is significant for the education sector in the region, particularly as it supports the Inspire Learning home learning project. The contract was signed on 1st July 2022, and the buyer's headquarters is located in Newtown St Boswells, UK. The procurement process was completed after evaluating potential solutions to enhance home learning during the challenges presented by the pandemic.

This contract presents an excellent opportunity for technology firms, particularly those specialising in educational software and digital learning solutions. Companies that provide innovative platforms for remote learning and parental engagement would be ideally positioned to compete for future contracts of this nature. Given the importance of effective digital solutions in the education sector, businesses that can demonstrate a track record of enhancing learning experiences remotely will find significant growth opportunities as local authorities invest in similar initiatives.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Provision of License and Support Agreement for this IT application. In March 2020 the coronavirus pandemic resulted in the full closure of all UK schools. Our secondary schools, already equipped with iPads and the Show My Homework App placed our secondary young people, parents/carers and teachers at a unique advantage to hit the ground running with Home Learning. The Education digital steering group consulted on a core app for parental engagement in schools and completed an evaluation and test with three products. This resulted in the contract being awarded to Showbie.. The Council has awarded this contract directly.
