## Summary

The University of Edinburgh, a public body governed by public law, has initiated a tender process for the provision of a benchtop NMR spectrometer within the IGC. The procurement falls under the "Education" category, with a total value of £100,000. The tender, titled "NMR benchtop spectrometer", is currently in the active stage with an open procurement method. The deadline for tender submissions is 17th October 2022, and the contract award period starts on 25th October 2022.

This tender by the University of Edinburgh presents an opportunity for businesses involved in supplying goods to the education sector, specifically in the field of scientific equipment. Companies capable of providing benchtop NMR spectrometers and related services would be well-suited to compete. The project involves acquiring a vital instrument to enhance the infrastructure of the IGC, which is situated near the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. Businesses that can meet the technical specifications and delivery requirements outlined in the tender documentation are encouraged to participate in this competitive procurement process.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The IGC is located near the Western General Hospital, almost five miles away from the closest NMR facilities. Acquiring a benchtop NMR instrument that is easy to use, requires no/minimal maintenance, no cryogens, and has a small footprint, would be an optimal solution to improve IGC infrastructure without the need to refurbishing or contracting specialised staff. As it will be the first in-house NMR of the IGC, adding NMR capabilities to the institute will provide access to an essential tool for speeding up the drug discovery ambitions of the IGC and the CMVM. Waiting for NMR spectra of an intermediate represents in many occasions as bottleneck to progress a project, causing delays to a planned synthetic route. Access to an on-site Benchtop NMR will allow us to reinvest time recovered from trips to King's Buildings (at least 2 h per trip) back into research.

Options: Additional accessories might be required and have been asked for options as part of the tender documentation

Renewal: It may be required to extend the contract if the funding continues this will be extendable out on a rolling yearly option
