Laboratory research reflects the University of Dundee testing samples of items / materials seized by the SPS to allow the identification of any controlled substances / drugs, and types of new substance which have been introduced into prisons. This supports the SPS's own machine based drug detection activity by providing secondary testing and allows the parties to improve the operational capability of the drug detection machines. Extension of the existing research activity with the University of Dundee (which commenced in Nov 20 to Jan 23) for a further 24 months.
