### Lot Information

Lot 1

Upgrade of confocal microscope including microscope stand with a wider light aperture (F mount rather than C mount) which requires inclusion of larger filters in the optical train. In addition to this is an upgrade to our Laser Bed, which is now 7 years old, with higher power lasers to enable us to carry out a range of novel super-resolution methods on our system.

### Procurement Information

This system was a bespoke development by the manufacturer, so competition is absent for upgrades to it. The University works with Andor developers, particularly around software and firmware implementation and this work could not be done with other suppliers' parts. Upgrading the Andor Dragonfly allows us to reuse parts of our older Andor Dragonfly rather than having to dispose of it entirely; this is in line with the University's sustainability strategy on reducing waste.
