## Summary

The procurement process for the FM Operations - West Region - North Argyll contract was successfully awarded to Forestry and Land Scotland. This services contract covers the rapid planting of a felled site to enhance forest structure, with a total value of £1,448,321. The buying organisation, Forestry and Land Scotland, based in Inverness, Scotland, used a limited procurement method without prior publication of a call for competition. The tender process concluded on 24th November 2022, with ICD Contracting Limited being the successful supplier.

This awarded contract by Forestry and Land Scotland presents significant business opportunities for companies specializing in services related to forestry operations, particularly in the environmental protection sector. Businesses within the UK region, especially those experienced in planting and maintenance operations for forest sites, would be best suited to engage with this specific tender opportunity. The contract involves planting on various sites, excluding certain tasks such as fencing and ground preparation, potentially catering to SMEs in the forestry services industry.

## Notice

Rapid planting of a felled site can minimise weed growth (and hence reduce herbicide use) and the loss of nutrients / sediment from sites which may be needed to help improve the forest structure. FLS therefore require the planting programme including Restock and Beat-up and maintenance operations required to establish sites, excluding fencing, deer management and ground preparation. FLS may on occasion require the Service Provider to plant on sites pre-final felling (i.e. underplanting) or on sites without previous tree cover. This will be agreed with the Service Provider when setting out the annual programme.
