To establish a timeline of key events involved in the settlement schemes affecting the Gypsy/Traveller communities. 2. To identify any available records on key decisions made by the UK Government in relation to the inception and operation of the settlement schemes and the roles of collaborating institutions/stakeholders. 3. To estimate the extent to which these policies were implemented, in terms of the number, scale and locations of sites across Scotland and, where records allow, the number of individuals affected. To meet the aims set out above, the contractor should undertake a review of available archival material covering the period 1917 to 1990.
