Lot 1

This Mini Competition was carried out under the Scottish Government Framework Agreement for the Provision of Legal Services (Multi-Lot) Reference SP-18-010 Lot 3 - Litigation, Reparation, Employment and Inquiries to provide Legal Services to the Scottish Prison Service (SPS). The Service Provider shall represent the SPS for work from two Directorates within SPS: the Corporate Services Human Resources Directorate ('CSHR') and the Legal Services Branch ('LSB') within the Chief Executive's Office. Work from CSHR includes: (a) Staff reparation work; and (b) All other matters relating to staff issues including, but not limited to, providing legal opinion regarding pensions, tax, benefits, Health & Safety, and undertaking the legal processes associated with claims against the Purchaser arising from incidents involving the SPS's staff. Work from the LSB includes: (a) Prisoner reparation work and general litigation (usually, although not limited to personal injury claims) which the Purchaser consider is appropriate to be dealt with externally; (b) Third party claims from visitors to prisons etc. for loss or damage to property or personal injury; and (c) Fatal Accident Inquiries (FAIs) with the exception of any particularly sensitive FAI which will, at the Purchaser's sole discretion, may be dealt with by SGLD. The contract term shall be a fixed term of 3 years commencing on 20th January 2023.
