## Summary

The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow initiated a procurement process titled "Minor Works Framework (MWF)" to establish a framework agreement for delivering minor capital and maintenance works, refurbishments, and fit-outs. The process was executed under a selective procurement method, employing a restricted procedure suitable for works involving all trades from joinery to electricals, covering values up to GBP 6,000,000. Although Glasgow Caledonian University was also involved, the tender, initially planned with an end submission date of 14 August 2023, was ultimately cancelled as noted in the award stage on 24 September 2025.

This framework presented numerous opportunities for businesses of various sizes to engage in projects ranging from accommodation refurbishments to laboratory fit-outs. Companies with solid technical expertise in construction and building services, especially those meeting specific turnover and insurance criteria, were ideal candidates. The procurement encouraged participation from entities capable of delivering quality assurance while adhering to environmental standards, illustrating the potential for substantial growth through enhancement of industry reputation and expansion into public sector projects. Despite its cancellation, similar opportunities may arise, serving as a potential gateway for businesses to establish and strengthen relationships within the public sector procurement landscape in Scotland.
