## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has completed the procurement process for the provision of Genetic Variant Location Mapping Software Services and Support. The procurement method used was a limited process, specifically an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The buying organization, the University of Edinburgh, sought these services to generate and analyse cattle plasmid libraries for genetic variation. The contract worth EUR 205,000 was awarded to Annogen BV. The procurement stage is now at the award phase, with the contract signed on 9th March 2023.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses providing specialised software services in genomic analysis to engage in unique projects focused on genetic variation. Suitable companies should have expertise in end-to-end genomic analysis services, particularly related to generating and analysing plasmid libraries for cattle. The University of Edinburgh has highlighted the absence of competition for technical reasons as a rationale for this limited procurement process, indicating that businesses with proprietary technology in this field have a competitive advantage.

## Notice

Provision of software services and support to generate and analyse cattle plasmid libraries for genetic variation.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Provision of specialist software services and support to generate and analyse cattle plasmid libraries, to map genetic variants that directly alter the expression levels of genes. Mapping the precise location of regulatory variants will allow us to better pinpoint the variants driving differences in important human and cattle phenotypes, enabling downstream interventions such as genome editing in cattle and cell therapies in humans.

### Procurement Information

The Service Provider has developed proprietary technology related to the specific requirements of this contract, and are the only company that offer these end-to-end genomic analysis services. The Service Provider will use biological material that we shall provide, to generate the plasmid libraries.
