## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has awarded a contract for a Survey Tool, designed to facilitate market research by combining experience feedback, research methodologies, and analytics in a single platform. The procurement method was a limited tender using an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract, valued at £57,800 in GBP, was signed on 16th March 2023. The project is aimed at extending existing licences to avoid technical difficulties and allow for a thorough review of future needs and market options relating to this tool.

This opportunity may be of interest to businesses providing market research solutions in the education sector. Given the specific requirements outlined by the University of Edinburgh, suppliers with expertise in survey tools and data analytics for academic research may find this tender particularly fitting for their capabilities. The contract extension provides a chance for businesses to engage with a prestigious academic institution and contribute to ongoing research projects within the University.

### Procurement Information

The existing licences procured in 2014 are required to be extended for an initial period of 12 months. A change in supplier in a short time period would cause disproportionate technical difficulties in having to retrieve and migrate both live and historic research data held on the system. Furthermore, this would require significant changes to staff and student ways of working and could detrimentally impact a large number of research projects; such a change would require timely consultation and planning. An initial 12 month extension will allow a project to be undertaken to review University wide requirements for such a tool, fully survey the market, help inform the most appropriate route to market at the end of the contract term and determine whether this is a system/tool that will be centrally managed going forward.
