Following closure of the MRC-RCUK funding round for "WORLD CLASS LABS CAPITAL FUNDING 2022/23" in October 2022, a further round of proposals were invited (submission deadline early February 2023) for additional capital equipment expenditure that could be completed by the end of March 2023. An extremely tight time-frame for capital purchase, but with systems pre-specified and quotes in hand from the earlier funding round the purchase was feasible. Being outside the normal funding round and with ad hoc award notification, we were not fully notified of the award until week commencing 9th March. Despite earlier quotes indicating a lead time of 6 weeks for delivery, the originally quoted supplier Esteem indicated a delivery time-frame of
