The University of Highlands and Islands currently utilise a Student Placement Software system, however the contract for this has come to an end and we are looking to procure a new student placement software system. There are two areas involved in managing placements, the Nursing and Midwifery department and the Optometry department with the potential of more areas coming on board in the future. The Nursing and Midwifery Department program is hosted over two campuses, Inverness and the Western Isles while the Optometry department is based in Inverness. The BSc Nursing Degree is a three-year program and in total is 270-500 students per year, undertaking 2-4 placements per year, whereas the Optometry course is delivered over four years and has approximately 160 students during the four years, undertaking up to 2 placement per year.
