## Summary

The South Lanarkshire Council awarded a contract for the "Installation and Maintenance of Milestone CCTV Monitoring System" to British Telecommunications PLC. The contract was procured under extreme urgency due to a complete failure of the existing monitoring software. The Council required an immediate solution to avoid missing serious incidents, with a contract value of £326,092. The procurement method was a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition in the services category.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses specialising in urgent service provision, particularly those experienced in public safety solutions. As the contract involved extreme urgency, suppliers capable of rapid response and implementation would be well-suited to compete. Businesses should consider aligning their offerings with public order and safety requirements, given the critical nature of the project for South Lanarkshire Council. The successful bidder, British Telecommunications PLC, secured a significant contract value, highlighting the potential for growth in the public sector market.
