## Summary

The East Ayrshire Council is planning a procurement process for Market Research – Paint Tin Recycling. This process aims to find new disposal routes for paint tins with wet paint inside, seeking solutions for re-using the paint and recycling the empty tins. The planned procurement notice can be accessed via the Public Contracts Scotland website. The Council is looking for innovative ways to address the increasing demand from residents for recycling paint tins with usable paint, potentially creating business opportunities for companies in the recycling or waste management industry.

This procurement process, currently at the planning stage, is in services category and is covered by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA). The Council has identified a need to address the demand for paint tin recycling at its waste centres in Kilmarnock and Cumnock. The future notice date for this opportunity is set for March 1, 2024. Businesses specializing in waste management, recycling solutions, or environmental services are well-suited to explore this tender and propose innovative and sustainable solutions for paint tin recycling in East Ayrshire.

## Notice

East Ayrshire Council owns and operates 2 household waste recycling centres. One at Western Road, Kilmarnock and one at Garlaff, Cumnock. Both recycling centres offer many disposal and recycling options for our residents within East Ayrshire. We are continually looking for new and innovative ways to capture and recycling further items. We have recently seen a demand for recycling paint tins. The paint tins would still have wet paint within. We have seen an increase in requests for residents wishing to deposit paint tins that still have 50% + paint still within the tin that is usable. We wish to find a suitable disposal route for these paint tins where the paint within can be re-used and empty paint tins recycled.
