## Summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking service providers for the provision of Care at Home and Housing Support Services, with the contract commencing on 1st July 2024. This initiative falls under the general public services and housing support industry category and will be delivered within the UKM95 region. The procurement process is currently in the award stage, having commenced with a tender period that ended on 15th January 2024. The contract, valued at £714.3 million, will serve residents in South Lanarkshire supported by the Council and the South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership (SLHSCP). The procurement method employed is an open procedure under the Light Touch Rules contained in Regulation 74-76 of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015, allowing providers to be added over its 15-year term to facilitate user choice.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those with expertise in care and housing support services, to grow and expand their operations. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) alongside larger organisations are encouraged to participate, as diversity among providers is expected to meet various care needs, including physical frailty, dementia, complex care needs, and more. The procurement process supports innovation and flexibility, ideal for businesses focusing on personal and non-personal care services within home settings. Companies with capabilities to maintain high care standards and compliance with regulatory requirements, such as those established by the Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), will find this tender particularly advantageous. The potential for long-term contracts and recurring business through the re-opened bid opportunities adds to the appeal for businesses seeking to establish and sustain a robust presence in the South Lanarkshire care sector.
