## Summary

The Aberdeen City Council, a regional or local authority in the UK, is planning to commission specialist care in nursing homes within Aberdeen City. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with a future notice date set for March 4, 2024. The title of the tender is "Potential Standalone Contracts within Nursing Homes (Aberdeen City)", focusing on services for individuals requiring specialist care services like Tracheostomy Care and Acquired Brain Injuries. The total value of the contract is £200,000 GBP. Businesses in the health and social care sector with expertise in complex care units would find this tender opportunity suitable for providing bespoke care services.

This procurement opportunity presents a chance for businesses to engage with the Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership to offer specialist care services in nursing homes. The contract aims to address the lack of local specialist residential care for individuals with complex care needs, potentially requiring a more specialist skillset for care home staff. Interested businesses are invited to propose how they can provide these services, considering factors such as individual needs complexity, staffing schedules, ethical commissioning principles, and support from the health system. This tailored tender seeks to establish a standalone contract separate from the existing care provisions, benefiting individuals needing complex care services in Aberdeen City.

## Notice

Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership are considering commissioning specialist care in nursing homes within Aberdeen City and would like to engage with the nursing home market to consider how this could be achieved.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

There is a significant lack of local specialist residential care for all age groups that require the following specialist care services: Tracheostomy Care Acquired Brain Injuries Degenerative Neurogenetic disorders Challenging behaviours possible due to conditions listed above In a lot of cases individuals either remain as a delayed discharge in hospital or are placed outwith the Aberdeen City boundary, sometimes cross border which means that the most vulnerable of clients are taken away from their home city, removed from families and the personal cost to these individuals and their loved ones is severe. The partnership would like to know if there are any registered nursing homes that could provide a specialist, bespoke complex care unit/bed(s). Given the potentially higher cost of this type of provision this would be a bespoke standalone contract (in addition to the NCHC). This would obviously require a more specialist skillset for care home staff and a variation to the registration of the care home to allow for more complex care to be provided which should include individuals under 65. These would be permanent residents therefore can register as a permanent patient with the local GP practices.. If you are interested please send in a proposal on a word document via email explaining how this could be provided, please consider the complexity of individual's needs, no. of places, safer staffing schedules, CI registration, the 8 ethical commissioning principles, support required from health and not forgetting the potential weekly cost for the service per individual.
