## Summary

The University Of Edinburgh has completed a procurement process through a limited tender for the purchase of an Ion Microprobe system named MS 1300-HR³ Ultra High Sensitivity Magnetic Sector SIMS. This award, valued at approximately €6,353,000, was signed on 26th April 2024. The University's procurement was motivated by the unique design and specification requirements of the Ion Microprobe, crucial for meeting the analytical demands of the NERC and the UK Earth and Environmental Science community.

This procurement opportunity by the University Of Edinburgh is particularly suited for businesses involved in manufacturing high-tech analytical instruments or providing maintenance and support services for such equipment. The procurement stage has now advanced to the contract award phase, enhancing business opportunities for suppliers in this specialised industry category. Businesses with expertise in magnetic sector Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer (SIMS) instruments and related technology are well-placed to compete for such specialised tenders.
