## Summary

Consumer Scotland has awarded a contract for the "Consumers in Vulnerable Circumstances Research," focusing on the general public services industry category within the UK, particularly Scotland (region UKM). This contract to Thinks Insight and Strategy (Britain Thinks) Limited aims to deliver two to four social research projects annually, detailing the experiences of consumers in vulnerable circumstances. Commissioned through an open procedure, the contract commenced on 23rd August 2024 and will run for twelve months, with an option to extend until August 2027. The project addresses essential engagement activities, including facilitating workshops and lived experience inputs, with a funding value of approximately £400,000 GBP. The procurement stage is completed, with critical dates including the announcement of the award on 13th September 2024 and prior submission deadlines on 12th July 2024.

This tender for social research presents an excellent growth opportunity for SMEs and organisations specialising in data collection, analysis, and community engagement within public services. With a substantial contract value and the possibility of extensions, businesses capable of providing high-quality, evidence-based insights into vulnerable consumer behaviour are well-positioned to compete. The project’s focus on practical engagement and lived experiences also invites collaboration with entities that have strong local connections and expertise in workshop facilitation. As the awarded contract is under a central purchasing body in Edinburgh, businesses in relevant fields may leverage this contract to expand their service offerings and establish a foothold in government-related research initiatives.
