## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has awarded a contract titled "Present and future financing for heat networks in Scotland" within the education sector. This project, commissioned by ClimateXChange (CXC), aims to research the current and future financing models for heat networks in Scotland and internationally, focusing on identifying suitable financial mechanisms to encourage private investment. The procurement process was completed through an open procedure, with key activities completed at the award and contract stages. The contract, valued at £85,000 GBP, was signed on 21st August 2024. The primary location for the project is Edinburgh, specifically within the region UKM75. The procurement process is governed by the GPA and classified under CPV code 73210000, for research consultancy services.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialised in financial research, consultancy, and analysis, especially those with expertise in the energy and utilities sectors. Given the emphasis on incentivising private finance in heat networks, companies with proven experience in public-private partnerships and innovative financial solutions would be well-suited for this project. The detailed examination of financing mechanisms also provides avenues for SMEs and large corporations to demonstrate their capabilities in driving sustainable energy projects. By engaging in this tender, businesses can not only showcase their expertise but also contribute to the strategic goals of the Scottish Government in accelerating the deployment of heat networks.
