## Summary

The University of Edinburgh, located at Charles Stewart House, 9-16 Chambers Street, Edinburgh, conducted a public procurement process titled "Tree Planting and Maintenance" in the education industry category. The procurement involved contracting approximately 250 hectares of planting across two new woodland creation sites at Sherrifmuir and the Pentlands. The procurement method used was an open procedure, and the process has now progressed to the award stage. The contract was awarded on 18 November 2024, with planting scheduled to begin in February 2025. The contract includes an initial term ending in May 2027 with options for three one-year extensions. The total value of the contract is £564,500 GBP.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for companies specialising in forestry services, tree planting, and maintenance. The contract includes requirements for beat-up planting and maintenance over five years, ensuring steady work. SMEs in forestry and related sectors would be well-suited for such contracts, particularly those experienced in large-scale environmental projects. The comprehensive coverage of planting and maintenance tasks, as well as potential for contract extensions, makes this an attractive opportunity for businesses seeking to establish or expand their presence in public sector environmental projects.
