## Summary

The University of Strathclyde, located in Glasgow, has recently completed a public procurement process for the supply, delivery, and installation of collaborative robots for the Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation (CMAC). This contract, funded by a UKRPIF grant, aims to develop state-of-the-art integrated DataFactories as part of the new CMAC Data Lab initiative to support their Lab of the Future vision. The contract covers a series of collaborative robots needed to handle various samples and perform different activities alongside human researchers. This procurement was conducted through an open procedure and included multiple lots, with the overall project budget being tightly constrained. The contract was awarded to FANUC UK on 17 December 2024 and is valued at £263,424.17.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in robotics, automation, and related software solutions, particularly those capable of providing flexible, scalable systems that can adapt to future research demands. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with experience in manufacturing specialised laboratory equipment and collaborative robots are well-positioned to compete in such tenders. The open procurement process allows for equal opportunity, ensuring that innovative companies can participate and secure contracts, ultimately driving business growth within the high-tech and education sectors.

## Notice

The Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation (CMAC) are developing state-of-the-art intergraded DataFactories in support of our Lab of the Future vision and new CMAC Data Lab initiative. Our goal is to establish multiple automated model driven instruments to establish a ML (Machine Leaning) ready database of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data. A range of different collaborative robots are required to be integrated with third party scheduling and workflow software to move, prepare and analyse samples. These collaborative robots must be able to handle a wide variety of different samples and perform a range of different activities in a working lab alongside human researchers. They need to be flexible for future research demands that are not yet determined. This requirement is funded by a UKRPIF grant, which is funding a list of equipment to be delivered as part of the CMAC Data Lab project. Budget and timescales are tight for the delivery of this project and CMAC are looking to maximise the funding where possible. This contract is a Lotted contract
