## Summary

The University of Strathclyde has successfully concluded an open procedure tender to select a delivery partner for the Make Pillar of the Glasgow City Innovation District (GCID) Venture Studio. This tender, aimed at the Education sector, was awarded UK Government Shared Prosperity Funding to support innovation across multiple collaborative projects. The awarded contracts are managed by the University of Strathclyde, located in Glasgow. The procurement process moved from planning in July 2024 to the award stage in October 2024. Key deadlines included the submission deadline on 11th September 2024, with contract signing occurring on 18th October 2024. The winning consortium, led by Graven Images Ltd, includes SPRENG THOMSON and Threesixty Architecture, receiving a contract valued at £99,000.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) focusing on design, innovation, and prototyping services. Suitable businesses could range from early-stage startups to more established firms looking to bring new products or services to market. The contract involves delivering a hands-on innovation development programme, facilitating design thinking workshops, developing innovation assets, and fostering a sustainable community of makers within the GCID. Companies participating will have access to expertise, tools, and collaborative workspaces, fostering an environment conducive to rapid prototyping and market testing, thus accelerating their growth and commercial viability.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Glasgow City Innovation District is seeking a supplier who will be responsible for delivering a hands-on innovation development programme that will help companies (early stage and established) to design, prototype and prepare a new product or service. The Supplier will be responsible for outlining a delivery programme that supports up to 12 innovators to deliver tangible, commercialisable outputs whether the starting point is a sketch of a concept or a prototype requiring refinement. There will be three components to this support: - Design Thinking: Delivering expert-led workshops and sessions that teach the principles of design thinking--a creative problem-solving approach that ensures products are not only innovative but also user-centred, and this will require an element of real market testing. - Develop innovation assets: Access to expertise, tools, technologies and methodologies that enable the creation of prototypes and refine product designs effectively. - Networking and collaborative workspaces with existing strategists, designers and communicators. - Build a sustainable community of makers and mentors within GCID that will continue beyond this programme. The Supplier will also be required to assess participants (in conjunction with GCID) to determine if grant support should be awarded during the programme to allow participants to progress their innovation.
