## Summary

The University of Strathclyde recently completed a procurement process for the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a Cryogenic Mechanical Tester. This contract, valued at £211,000 GBP, is part of an open procurement procedure above the GPA threshold, related to research and development equipment for the Electronic and Electrical Engineering department. The procurement process began with a planned stage in September 2024, progressed to an active tender stage in November 2024, with bids closing on 12th December 2024, and was ultimately awarded in July 2025. The final delivery and installation of the equipment will take place at the University's Glasgow campus, aligning with Innovate UK’s ZEST1 Zero Emissions for Sustainable Transport Project. The contract was awarded to HOPE EXCELLENCE (HONG KONG) LIMITED following a competitive process that emphasised both cost and quality.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in research and development equipment, especially those with capabilities in advanced mechanical testing systems. Companies adept in providing complex integrated solutions and with a focus on sustainable technology development stand to benefit from participating in similar tenders. The nature of the equipment—utilized for innovative research in cryogenic aviation propulsion systems and mechanical characterisation of materials—suits suppliers that can offer technologically sophisticated products and services, enabling business growth in cutting-edge science and engineering sectors. SMEs, especially those with an emphasis on export, should consider the potential to showcase their expertise in highly specialised equipment and align with major university-led research projects.

## Notice
