## Summary

The University of Strathclyde has awarded a contract for the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of mechanical testing equipment for semiconductor assemblies. This contract supports the expansion of advanced packaging facilities for power electronics within the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS). The equipment will be housed in an ISO-7 clean room environment at an NMIS site, located in the UKM82 region. The University of Strathclyde, based in Glasgow, conducted this open procurement process, which concluded on 2 December 2024. The contract was awarded to Inseto UK Limited, with the contract valued at GBP 124,000 and signed on 11 February 2025.

This tender provides substantial growth opportunities for businesses involved in the supply of mechanical testing and semiconductor assembly equipment, especially those with experience in supporting large-scale manufacturing facilities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), like the awarded supplier Inseto UK Limited, stand to benefit significantly. The project extends participation to both academic and industrial partners across the UK, enhancing collaborations and access to advanced testing facilities. Firms equipped to deliver specialised semiconductor testing equipment can leverage this procurement to expand their market footprint and strengthen their position within the power electronics industry.
