## Summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council has successfully awarded a contract for the "Dalbeattie Active Travel Links Phase 2" project under the general public services industry category. This procurement aims to enhance active travel infrastructure in Dalbeattie through contributions from Sustrans Places for Everyone (PfE). The award was made to Amey OW Ltd following a limited procurement method, specifically a direct award call-off from the Scotland Excel Engineering and Technical Consultancy Framework 0820, Lot 2. The contract, valued at £231,537, was signed on 30th October 2024, with the completion status already achieved as of 21st November 2024. The project includes constructing a new footbridge over the Dalbeattie Burn and improving connectivity along the A710 Port Road with additional wayfinding and other active travel opportunities.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses involved in infrastructure development, particularly those specialising in transportation and traffic consultancy services. Companies like Amey OW Ltd, which has been awarded the contract, demonstrate that firms with expertise in large-scale projects are well-suited to compete. Additionally, businesses capable of engaging in collaborative projects funded through public and private partnerships would find such procurement processes beneficial for growth and diversification into similar or related sectors. The successful completion of such projects not only enhances community services but also elevates the profile and expertise of participating companies in delivering complex public infrastructure solutions.
