## Summary

The University of Strathclyde, located in Glasgow, is in the planning stage of procuring a high-speed Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG). This procurement falls under the education industry category and is aimed at enhancing the Neuromorphic Photonics Lab at the Institute of Photonics. The tender, titled "High Speed Arbitrary Wave Form Generator," is intended primarily for academic research to produce high-speed signals necessary for characterising advanced photonic devices. The anticipated value of this procurement is £85,000. Key dates include the future notice date on 11th April 2025.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the high-tech and photonics industries. Companies specialising in high-speed and high-resolution waveform generation technology are well-suited to compete for this contract. It provides a stellar growth opportunity for businesses looking to penetrate the academic research market and collaborate with prestigious institutions like the University of Strathclyde. This procurement process will likely include an initial market engagement, inviting interested suppliers to participate and express interest in contributing to cutting-edge research infrastructure.

## Notice

High-speed Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG). The system should be able to operate at a sample rate higher than 60 GSa/s and have an analog bandwidth higher than 20 GHz. The AWG system should also have a resolution of 8 bits or higher and a memory higher than 1 GSa. The ideal system will be employed for academic research and located within a photonic research laboratory.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Neuromorphic Photonics Lab at the Institute of Photonics (University of Strathclyde) is seeking to complement their research equipment with the acquisition of a high-speed Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) system. This is needed to produce the high-speed signals required for the characterisation of novel photonic devices and systems for use in novel light-enabled neuromorphic (brain-like) computing and artificial intelligence hardware, for example but not limited to. The system is primarily destined to be employed for academic research. It is purposed to increase the signal generation capability provided by existing Lab equipment. The system sought after is destined to provide the capability for high-speed arbitrary signal generation of at least 60 GSa/s or higher and an analog bandwidth higher than 20 GHz. The system should also provide a resolution of 8 bits or higher, a memory of 1 GSa/s or higher and be able to generate signals with 1 Vpp output amplitude. The ideal system would also permit the option to increase modularly the number of output channels and increase the memory provided.. The University is publishing this PIN for initial Market Research and Engagement purposes. The University may conduct further market engagement with the suppliers that note interest in this opportunity.
