## Summary

The University of Dundee, located in Dundee, has awarded a contract to Source BioScience UK Limited for services pertaining to the analysis of study samples using the Olink (Explore HT platform). This procurement falls under the education sector. The contract, termed "Term Contract for the Olink (Explore HT platform) analysis of study samples," will span from 4th April 2025 to 3rd April 2026 and involves procurement conducted through a limited method without prior publication of a call for competition. The awarded contract, valued at £160,000 GBP, signifies a collaborative effort to leverage high-quality multiplex immunoassay technology for precision proteomics in human protein biomarker discovery. This procurement has reached the award stage as of 2nd April 2025.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in advanced proteomics and biotech research, specifically those adept in high-throughput protein biomarker analysis and operating under ISO standards. Source BioScience UK's existing capabilities and previous collaborative success in using Olink Explore HT panel provide a competitive advantage for achieving comprehensive and high-quality data analysis. SMEs with expertise in biotechnological research, laboratory services, and high-quality assay platforms are well-suited to compete for similar contracts. Partnering with institutions like the University of Dundee offers potential growth through innovative research and development projects along with the possibility of fostering long-term collaborative relationships in the scientific community.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Source Bioscience offers the University the ability to utilise Olink patented high-quality multiplex immunoassay Explore HT panel for precision proteomics in human protein biomarker discovery(Explore HT platform) analysis of study samples; additional deliveries by the original service provider under the strict conditions stated in the Regulations.

### Procurement Information

Source BioScience Laboratory offer the University of Dundee the ability to utilise Olink(r) patented high-quality multiplex immunoassay Explore HT panel for precision proteomics in human protein biomarker discovery, with laboratories operating to ISO 9001:2015 standards. Olink's protein panels can achieve a high level of multiplexing while maintaining exceptional data quality thanks to proprietary Proximity Extension Assay (PEA). Olink Explore HT is a multiplex immunoassay platform for human protein biomarker discovery, offering high-throughput analysis of over 5,400 proteins using PEA technology with a next generation sequencing (NGS) readout, using only 1ul of sample. The panel that we have chosen has comprehensive coverage of our inflammation-related proteins of interest and has been utilised with the same supplier in a project run recently with which we hope to integrate and validate data. Unlike in many other immunoassay formats, any antibody cross-reactivity that may occur during the multiplexed PEA is excluded from the detection process. We plan to analyse airway samples from a study of patients with the chronic lung disease bronchiectasis. Samples will be provided in an anonymised format and no participant data will be shared with the facility. We have previously used an alternative academic facility for Olink analysis with smaller panels (target 48 and 96; Leeds University) however, the facility are unable to offer the extended proteomic panel required for the present project (Explore HT). The Source BioScience laboratory have recently completed a project for us within a collaborative study, utilising the Explore HT platform, yielding highly interesting and high-quality data which allowed novel characterisation of inflammation within the disease. As the assay output is not quantitative and rather is in "relative abundance," for the best chance to integrate and validate the results we have obtained, and to be guaranteed a confirmed high-quality analysis given the total cost of the project, we want to utilise the same supplier. Furthermore, the supplier has offered a discounted price for the present project due to utilising existing stocks of these assay kits which have expiry dates closely aligning with our project timelines.
