## Summary

Social Security Scotland has recently completed the procurement process for a "Specialist Office Equipment" contract, aimed at equipping its offices in Dundee and Glasgow. The procurement, focused on the industry category of social protection, was carried out using an open procedure and divided into five lots, encompassing items like ergonomic chairs, desks, workstation peripherals, and headsets. The process transitioned from the tender to the award stage, with awards made on 22nd and 30th September 2025. These contracts, intended to last for three years with a possible extension of one year, align with the ongoing demand and strategic objectives of the Scottish government. Such procurement strategies enable Social Security Scotland to maintain efficient operations across its offices in the UKM region.

This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in office equipment and related services. SMEs like Back Care Solutions Ltd and larger companies such as Banner Group Limited have successfully been awarded contracts, demonstrating the inclusive nature of this procurement process. The open procurement method allowed various suppliers to bid on multiple lots, fostering competition and diversification among bidders. Bidding on such contracts provides business growth potential through consistent demand over multiple years and the opportunity to forge strategic partnerships with public sector entities. Businesses well-versed in ergonomic solutions and capable of offering bespoke fitting and installation services are well-suited to thrive in this competitive landscape.
