## Summary

Museums Galleries Scotland has awarded a contract for the evaluation of its 'Protection through Connection' project, a pioneering initiative funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund aimed at safeguarding Scotland's intangible cultural heritage. Founded in Edinburgh, Museums Galleries Scotland acts as the central purchasing body, overseeing this project within the 'Recreation, culture and religion' category. The procurement process was carried out using an open procedure, leading to the awarding of the contract to Upstream, a small and medium-sized enterprise based in Dundee, on 10th June 2025. This project, set to be completed by March 2027, represents a crucial step in developing community partnerships and a sustainable infrastructure for cultural preservation in Scotland.

The tender offers significant prospects for businesses specialising in cultural and community heritage evaluations, providing rich opportunities for companies looking to expand their market presence within Scotland's cultural sector. With an emphasis on community identity and the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, the project serves as an ideal platform for businesses experienced in cultural evaluations, particularly those familiar with the dynamics of museum, archive and heritage centre collaborations. By engaging in such projects, businesses not only contribute to cultural preservation but also gain visibility and credibility in undertaking high-profile evaluations backed by prominent funding. Interested parties with expertise in heritage evaluations and community partnerships should seize this opportunity to showcase their capabilities and potentially grow their operations through collaboration.
