Transport Scotland, a central purchasing body on behalf of the Scottish Government, is in the planning stage for the A9 Dualling: Pitlochry to Killiecrankie project. This tender, with a procurement title "TS/MP/WKS/2025/01," involves the transformation of approximately four miles of single carriageway into dual carriageway, aiming to enhance safety and operational performance. The project is primarily situated in a rural vicinity near designated environmental sites, requiring careful environmental considerations. The procurement process, slated to begin with a virtual industry event in June 2025, follows a competitive dialogue procedure under the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015, with a planned value of £205 million. Key dates include a future notice date in July 2025, and the location is on the A9 trunk road stretching from south of the Tummel underbridge to the Pass of Killiecrankie.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those with expertise in civil engineering, road construction, and environmental mitigation. The project's scale and scope require a contractor experienced in large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with sustainable practices and community benefits as per the Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act 2014. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), third-sector bodies, and supported businesses are encouraged to participate, promoting local economic growth and innovation. The competitive dialogue procedure and community objectives outlined by Transport Scotland create a conducive environment for inclusive growth and fair work opportunities.
