## Summary

Forestry and Land Scotland has completed the procurement process for the Buildings Maintenance contract focused on various regions across Scotland, including North Highland, South Highland, North East, East, West, Central, South West, and South East. This framework agreement covers environmental protection works and encompasses maintenance of diverse building facilities. The procurement process, initiated through an open procedure, was comprehensive, involving tendering, amendments, and awarding stages. Contracts were finalised with several SME suppliers, and the signing took place on 23 January 2026. The project aimed to enhance the infrastructure supporting biodiversity, tourism, and sustainable economies. The processes were guided by detailed award criteria prioritising quality (40%) and price (60%) within each lot, ensuring a thorough assessment and selection of competent contractors.

This tender opens significant business growth opportunities, especially for SMEs engaged in construction, building maintenance, and related trades such as plumbing, heating, joinery, roofing, electrical, among others. The framework agreement enables suppliers to provide necessary trades directly or through subcontracting, fostering regional economic development by leveraging local expertise. Companies like IDM Energy Limited and Fryish Construction Services, among others, are well-equipped to deliver on contracts involving various trades essential for maintaining safe and legally compliant building conditions. Additionally, the multi-lot framework ensures that a broad spectrum of suppliers can participate, promoting diversity within service provision capabilities while supporting sustainable rural economic contributions.
