## Summary

The University of Strathclyde has recently concluded the award stage of a procurement process titled "Award of Supply and Delivery of UV Curing System". The process focused on acquiring a bond-interconnect-package line for semiconductor wafers and dies, supporting the creation of an advanced packaging facility for power electronics within the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS). The contract, awarded on 26th August 2025, involved purchasing goods within the laboratory services sub-category of the industry and is valued at £49,600.00. The procurement method selected was open tendering, with POWATEC GmbH in Hünenberg chosen as the supplier. The procurement is intended to support a publicly funded project, with the equipment to be utilised at a NMIS site in Glasgow, specifically housed in an ISO-7 clean room environment.

This procurement offers significant growth opportunities for businesses engaged in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industries, particularly those at the forefront of technological innovation. Companies specialised in laboratory services and those capable of supplying cutting-edge equipment for research and development purposes would find this tender particularly well-suited to their services. With the step towards enhanced manufacturing capabilities and access to a broad network of partners across the UK, businesses can benefit from collaborative projects and the potential for future procurement opportunities within the academic and industrial sectors.

## Notice

The University of Strathclyde has a requirement for a bond-interconnect-package line that is suitable to receive semiconductor wafers and/or dies to be packaged in discrete power devices and modules. The line will allow research to be performed on a variety of materials and processes involved in the manufacture of semiconductor products. This is in support of a publicly funded project that will see the creation of an advanced, scaleup packaging facility for power electronics within the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS). The overall scale up manufacturing facility is to be housed at an NMIS site, this sub-section of the facility will be housed in an ISO-7 (class 10,000) clean room environment. The equipment within the facility will comprise the latest technology in their respective fields. It will be utilized in a range of projects within the Power Electronics industry and will be made available to both academic and industrial partners across the whole of the United Kingdom, including other catapult centres. As part of this project, NMIS has a requirement to procure a suitable UV curing system for use with taped wafers.
