The work involves excavation of a new channel and ditch embankments, transportation of that spoil to a storage area 1km away and creation of fish-friendly riffles, berms and bars in the new channel to ensure fish passage. The nature reserve is highly designated and the operation must be carried out in a very limited time window - normally August and September.
