## Summary

Argyll and Bute Council has initiated a public procurement process for Waste Management Services, aligned with the expiry of their existing Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements. This open procedure tender, currently in the tender stage, is aimed at continuing waste management services across the regions of Oban, Lorn, and surrounding areas, specifically focusing on Waste Transfer Stations, Recycling Centres, Recycling Deposit Points, and landfill site management. The deadline for electronic submissions is set for 7th November 2025, at 12:00 noon. The procurement is categorised under services and aligns with general public services as per the COFOG classification, with operations stationed in Argyll and Bute, UKM. Prospective respondents are advised to adhere to the submission method detailed on the Public Contracts Scotland portal.

This procurement presents significant business growth opportunities within the waste management industry, particularly for firms specialising in waste transfer and recycling services. Companies with experience in managing infrastructure tied to waste processing and recycling would find this tender beneficial, especially those capable of providing innovative solutions for waste management post-PPP contract arrangements. SMEs focusing on environmental management and sustainable waste solutions might also find the opportunity to expand their service offerings and contribute to community benefits, a valued aspect of this procurement. Additionally, the possibility of contract renewals dependent on satisfactory performance could ensure long-term business stability and collaboration with the Council.
