## Summary

The procurement process initiated by the Scottish Police Authority involves the "Provision of Forensic Toxicology Casework Analysis," focusing on services related to samples submitted under Sections 4 and 5A of the Road Traffic Act 1988. The procurement is classified under the industry category of public order and safety, with the main procurement category being services. The location of the procurement activities is the UK. The process followed an open procedure allowing electronic submission of tenders via the Public Tenders Scotland portal. Key dates included the tender period ending on 16th February 2026, and the contract was awarded on 17th February 2026. With an award value of £10,000,000, Eurofins Forensic Services Limited was appointed as the supplier.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in forensic toxicology, particularly those with the capability to analyse and report on samples related to driving under the influence, as stipulated by the Road Traffic Act 1988. It is well-suited for larger organisations due to the scale of the contract and the requirement for significant insurance coverages and relevant accreditations, such as BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Businesses engaged in such high-precision and regulated areas can leverage this opportunity to expand their government contracts portfolio while ensuring compliance with stringent quality and technical standards. Given the requirement for experience in court representation, firms that also provide expert witness services would be highly competitive in this tender. The opportunity to renew the contract provides potential for sustained business growth.
