## Summary

Argyll and Bute Council is overseeing a procurement process for the project titled "North Islay Active Travel Route: Business Case, Feasibility & Concept Design." This initiative falls under the industry category of general public services and aims to establish an active travel route on the Isle of Islay. The route will connect Port Askaig Ferry Terminal to Keils, Ballygrant, and Islay House Square car park, covering approximately 12.5 km. The procurement method used is an open procedure, reflecting transparency and inclusivity. Important dates include the contract signing on 19th February 2026, with the contract period running from 2nd March 2026 to 30th March 2026, which may extend up to 2030 depending on funding availability.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses specialising in transport planning and feasibility studies. With Connected Transport Planning already secured as the supplier, there remains room for subcontracting, which might interest small to medium enterprises (SMEs) capable of delivering services integral to the project's success. Given that the project requires in-depth community engagement and detailed feasibility analysis, organisations experienced in these areas and able to collaborate effectively would find this venture strategic for growth. The initiative includes community benefits, thus aligning with firms that value social responsibility in procurement. Electronic submission and invoicing are supported, encouraging efficient participation in the tendering process.
