## Summary

The Cairngorms National Park Authority, headquartered at Grantown-on-Spey, is undertaking a public procurement process for the supply of variable message signs aimed at raising awareness of a new fire byelaw effective from 1 April 2026. This contract, designated as an open procedure, falls under the category of services related to environmental protection and general public services. The procurement process has transitioned from tender to award stage, with the award made on 18 February 2026 to Clancy Docwra. Key delivery locations include roads across Aberdeenshire, Angus, Highland, and Perth & Kinross within the Cairngorms National Park. The contract value is £44,780 GBP and requires installation of signs during summer 2026 to ensure compliance with fire management measures.

This tender presents significant opportunities for organisations specialising in traffic and road signage, particularly those with experience in providing temporary signage solutions. Businesses with the capability to swiftly supply and install variable message signs can benefit from participating in similar opportunities within public parks and regions subject to regulatory changes. Given the environmental protection focus, companies with sustainable and innovative sign solutions may find added competitive advantage, particularly in light of ongoing legislative adjustments driven by climate considerations. This procurement process demonstrates potential for continued collaboration with public authorities on projects promoting safety and environmental stewardship.

## Notice

The Cairngorms National Park Authority wish to hire a number of variable message signs for summer 2026 to alert drivers and other road users to the fact that a new fire byelaw has come into force in the area. Signs will require to be located on a number of roads within the park, spread across the Aberdeenshire, Angus, Highland and Perth & Kinross local authority areas.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

In view of the increasing risk of wildfires brought about by the hanging climate and changes in visitor behaviour in recent years the Cairngorms National Park Authority recently received Scottish Government approval to introduce a fire management byelaw. This byelaw will come into force on 1 April 2026 and run until 30 September 2026 and will thereafter apply for the same dates in subsequent years. In order to alert the wider public to the fact a byelaw is in operation the Park Authority will be undertaking a range of communications activities ranging from face-to-face contact, online, printed guides to physical signage. As well as site specific signs at visitor destinations a number of permanent traffic authority approved signs are proposed at a number of roadside locations. However, it is anticipated that many of these will be unable to be supplied and installed prior to 1 April 2026 and so the Park Authority propose to make use of variable message signs as an alternative, temporary way of alerting visitors to the existence of the byelaw.
