## Summary

Museums Galleries Scotland, located in Edinburgh, initiated a procurement process for the development of a digital version of its Organisational Health Checker (OHC), aimed at enhancing the Museum Futures programme. This contract, focused on the industry category of recreation, culture, and religion, was part of an open procedure for services. The procurement process moved from the tender stage, initiated on 5 February 2026, to award on 14 April 2026, with Cairnstone Consultancy Ltd selected as the supplier. The contract, valued at £11,500, was officially signed on 7 April 2026. The project is expected to deliver a streamlined digital tool accessible beyond the Scottish museum sector, enhancing operational efficiency and engagement.

This tender presents significant opportunities for technological companies, particularly SMEs specialising in digital transformation and consultancy services. Businesses that focus on creating scalable, user-friendly digital tools will find this project particularly aligned with their expertise. Participation in this procurement allows such organisations to collaborate closely with the Museum Futures team, offering a unique chance to influence the digital strategy within the cultural sector while expanding their portfolio in governmental contracts. The open procedure encourages competition from outside Scotland, thus broadening the potential market reach for innovative firms in pursuit of strategic growth in the cultural domain.

## Notice

MGS seeks to appoint an individual or organisation to create a digital version of its Organisational Health Checker ("OHC"). A copy of the current OHC will be provided separately to this Invitation to Tender. The appointed contractor will collaborate closely with the Museum Futures team to develop the digital version. Originally developed specifically for the Museum Futures programme, the OHC supports museums in identifying their strengths, weaknesses and development opportunities. Available on the MGS website as a downloadable Word (.docx) file, the OHC is designed to help organisations in the museum sector determine priority areas for improvement and to enable as many organisations as possible to engage effectively with the programme. Museums interested in accessing tailored support, advice and funding can complete the OHC via Microsoft Word and return it electronically to the MGS team. This process is overly labour intensive and a more streamlined solution is required. MGS is therefore seeking to develop a digital version of the tool that incorporates the learning gained from piloting the Word based format. Although the digital tool will be developed for the Scottish museum sector, this tender opportunity is available to contractors located outside of Scotland. **Further details are available in the Invitation to Tender available at the Additional Documents section**
