## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has awarded a contract to ANT Neuro UK for a mobile EEG system without prior competition due to the absence of other technically capable suppliers. This procurement falls under the education category and is governed by public law. It is based in Edinburgh, UK, with the procurement process being a limited procedure without prior publication of competition. The contract was signed on 23 February 2026, marking the award stage of the process, and the contract is valued at £82,521 GBP.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in advanced medical devices and research-grade technologies. Companies with capabilities in developing high-density EEG systems, particularly those compatible with immersive VR and holding medical-grade certifications, are well-positioned to compete for similar contracts. The University of Edinburgh's focus on cutting-edge research environments might attract SMEs with innovative solutions that meet stringent technical requirements and can support the institution's advancing research capabilities.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The University of Edinburgh is intending to award a contract without prior publication for a mobile EEG system to Ant Neuro UK due to competition being absent for technical reasons. 1. High-Density EEG Capability (128 Channels Minimum) * Minimum of 128 recording channels * Uniform high-density scalp coverage * Research-grade signal quality suitable for: o Spatial filtering o Source localisation o Fine-grained analysis of cortical dynamics * Stable impedance control across all electrodes * Low-noise amplification appropriate for high-resolution modelling 2. Fully Mobile, Research-Grade System for Immersive VR The research design includes naturalistic movement and immersive VR paradigms. The EEG system must therefore be: * Fully mobile and wireless * Lightweight and body-worn (e.g., backpack-mounted amplifier) * Compatible with VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) without interfering with: o Headset fit o Participant comfort o Range of motion * Resistant to motion-induced artefacts * Designed with low-profile electrodes and integrated wiring * Mechanically stable during head and body movement 3. Precise Synchronisation with VR Systems The system must support robust and low-latency synchronisation between EEG data and VR events. Required features include: * Hardware-level synchronisation (e.g., TTL triggers) * Network-based synchronisation (e.g., Lab Streaming Layer - LSL) * Millisecond-level timing precision * Reliable integration with VR software platforms 4. Medical-Grade Certification Given the potential progression of this research toward clinical translation, the EEG system must: * Hold valid medical CE certification * Comply with applicable medical device regulatory standards * Be suitable for future clinical research use without requiring hardware replacement

### Procurement Information
