## Summary

Orkney Islands Council is inviting tenders for the demolition of the former Papdale Halls of Residence in Kirkwall, Orkney. This selective tender is part of a restricted procedure under the procurement category of works, specifically focusing on the construction and demolition sector. The procurement process is currently in the tender stage, with the key deadline for submission set for 5th June 2026. This project involves the complete removal of existing structures, including asbestos containing materials, to restore the site to a brownfield status suitable for future development. The procurement is valued at £3,000,000 and will be conducted electronically via Public Contracts Scotland.

This project presents growth opportunities for businesses equipped for large-scale demolition and hazardous material handling, specifically those with certifications in asbestos removal. Companies specialising in sustainable construction practices, such as recycling waste materials, may find this project aligns well with their expertise. With a significant focus on quality and price in award criteria, businesses that provide competitive yet high-quality services could benefit substantially from participating in this tender, potentially leading to further contracts within similar infrastructure projects across the region.
