## Summary

The Scottish Government has awarded a contract for Interim Livestock Traceability and Health Services, focusing on general public services in the UKM region. The contract, titled "Interim Livestock Traceability & Health Services," aims to enhance livestock database management through expert guidance and support from a dedicated team. It is currently in the award stage, with the contract signed on 30 March 2026. The procedure followed a limited procurement method without prior publication due to technical reasons as specified under Regulation 33(1)(b)(ii) of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015. The contract, valued at £4,029,364 GBP, is essential for statutory compliance, focusing on livestock identification, registration, movement, and health monitoring.

This tender offers businesses, particularly those with expertise in agricultural services and IT database management, substantial opportunities for growth. The contract is well-suited for entities with specialised knowledge to ensure the safe and efficient data transfer required for maintaining such services. The Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society Ltd, an SME, has secured this opportunity, indicating that businesses of similar scale and capability could find success in such procurement processes. The project facilitates the enhancement of existing technology and IT support functions, providing avenues for innovation and development in the agricultural sector. Companies interested in contributing to disease prevention, control, and public health need to meet stringent compliance standards, creating niche opportunities in agricultural and technological collaborations.
