## Summary

West Dunbartonshire Council has completed the procurement process for the "Brain Health and Dementia Resource Centre" contract, aimed at providing essential services to individuals aged 65 and over with a dementia diagnosis. This initiative is part of a health and social care partnership aimed at offering post-diagnostic support through specialist workers for 12 months. The project falls within the general public services industry category, specifically delivery across the UKM81 region. The procurement followed a limited procedure without prior publication, indicating a direct award under light touch regulations. The contract awarded to Alzheimer Scotland became active as of 1st April 2026 and is valued at £481,056.

Businesses specialising in health services for older adults, particularly those offering dementia care, will find growth opportunities through this contract. The contract is suitable for organisations that can provide personalised care and support to individuals with complex health and learning disabilities. As the procurement method involved a direct award, competition was limited, opening possibilities for entities with established relationships or proven expertise in dementia care. With the government focusing on services aligned to care and support plans, organisations experienced in delivering residential short breaks for adults with complex needs may find related opportunities appealing.
