## Summary

Highlands and Islands Airports Limited has initiated an open procurement process titled "Provision of Hold Baggage X-ray Equipment at Six Airports" to upgrade outdated X-ray equipment at six airport locations: Benbecula, Dundee, Islay, Kirkwall, Stornoway, and Wick. This tender falls under the airport-related activities industry category. The process is currently in the tender stage and has a submission deadline set for 7th July 2026 at noon. The project involves a significant upgrade to enhance safety standards and includes a maintenance support contract, with an estimated value of £1,265,000. The contract requires electronic submissions and adheres to the outlined economic and technical selection criteria.

This tender provides a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in security equipment manufacturing and maintenance, particularly those with experience in airport operations. Companies capable of delivering cutting-edge X-ray technology with robust support contracts will find this suitable to expand their market presence, especially given the necessity for long-term reliability and adherence to modern safety standards. Business entities that can propose comprehensive solutions with cost-effective and high-quality offerings stand to gain significantly, with a contract duration of approximately five years plus an optional 60-month extension. The tender's emphasis on community benefits further encourages businesses to provide enhancements to local communities, potentially enriching their corporate social responsibility portfolios.
