## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has completed a procurement process for the appointment of a supplier to provide MEP engineering and multi-disciplinary design team services for the Laurie Liddell Refurbishment at the Peffermill Campus, located in Edinburgh. The contract has been awarded to Drees & Sommer UK Limited following an open procedure under the Scotland Excel 0920 Building Construction Consultancy Framework Agreement. This project falls under the "services" category, specifically within the education industry. The procurement stage is now in the "Award" phase, and the contractual work will commence from 1 July 2026, extending through to 1 March 2029, subject to the phases defined in the RIBA Stages 0-7 contract framework.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in MEP engineering and integrated design services, especially those with experience in educational facility projects. SMEs like Drees & Sommer UK Limited, the awarded supplier, demonstrate the viability for smaller firms to successfully compete when they bring specialised expertise to complex refurbishments. The contract is designed to be flexible, with the potential for extension, offering sustained growth prospects for the awarded party and any subcontracting entities involved. Businesses with capabilities in UK construction frameworks, particularly those with experience in direct awards and public sector projects, would find themselves well-suited to similarly structured opportunities for growth through such procurement processes.
