## Summary

Scottish Natural Heritage, operating under the legal name NatureScot, is inviting tenders for an assessment to improve wildfire resilience at the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve (NNR) and a comparative site, Muir of Dinnet NNR in Aberdeenshire. This tender, titled "Assessment of wildfire resilience at Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve," falls under the industry category of environmental protection and services, with an emphasis on strategic interventions to mitigate wildfire risks. The procurement process is currently at the tender stage, with submissions to be made electronically by 26th August 2026. The project is situated in the UKM region, with a contract duration of 360 days. The procurement method is an open procedure with a main focus on electronic submission.

This tender presents significant opportunities for firms specialising in environmental analysis, risk assessment, and habitat resilience research. Businesses with expertise in developing strategic interventions for natural habitats are especially well-suited to compete for this contract. Engaging in this opportunity can facilitate business growth by expanding into government contracts focused on sustainable environment management and resilience planning. The focus on a quality-to-price ratio of 60:40 indicates an excellent opportunity for companies with high-quality service offerings supported by competitive pricing structures.

## Notice

NatureScot is looking to improve wildfire resilience on Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve (NNR) in the long-term. This work will include an evidence-based assessment the current wildfire resilience of different habitats on Beinn Eighe NNR, and prioritisation of potential strategic interventions to improve the future wildfire resilience. Proposed interventions will be strategic and prioritised across the NNR (i.e. a risk-based approach), to break up or contain areas of high risk or high consequence of wildfire. NatureScot is also looking to undertake elements of this work on another site to make a comparison of similar habitats in a different geological and climatic area. This will help us interpret the data at a more regional and national level.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

NatureScot is looking for an assessment of the main habitats on Beinn Eighe NNR and Muir of Dinnet NNR to the risk of wildfire and potential impacts to guide future management to improve the long-term resilience to wildfire. These two sites have been chosen as holding similar broad habitat types but being in different parts of the country with different environmental conditions. This research will provide us with evidence-based data which can help to inform where strategic interventions will be most effective at reducing the long-term risk and/or impact of wildfire on the NNRs.
