## Summary

Cairngorms National Park Authority is procuring environmental survey services for planned peatland restoration projects across its operational area in the Cairngorms National Park. The work covers pre-application peatland surveys and protected species surveys. Pre-application work will quantify peat resources, assess eligibility for grant funding, inform restoration design, and establish baseline data for monitoring restoration outcomes and habitat condition. Survey and design data may also support landowner or representative applications for Peatland Code registration. Protected species surveys will inform restoration design and identify ecological constraints. The requirement is classified as environmental protection and survey services, including environmental impact assessment and ecological services. Detailed survey methodologies are provided for both types of work.

The buyer has reached the tender stage and invited offers through an open procedure, with electronic submission. The procurement is divided into one lot. Bidders may bid for the individual lot or all lots where applicable, but a bid must cover every survey and site listed within the selected lot. Offers must be submitted by 22 September 2026 at 12:00, with bid opening at the same time. The contract period is 60 days, and bids must remain valid for 90 days after the submission deadline. Variants are not allowed. The contract supports electronic payment and ordering, and electronic invoicing is allowed. Performance requirements are set out in the procurement documents.

This opportunity suits environmental consultancies and ecological survey teams able to deliver both peatland pre-application surveys and protected species surveys to the stated methodologies. Suppliers should be able to provide the names and professional qualifications of the staff assigned to the work, and to produce survey information that supports restoration design, grant eligibility, habitat-condition baselines and possible Peatland Code registration. Delivery requires capacity to cover large areas of exposed upland terrain away from roads, with hill-track access to most areas. The Monie Mhor, Glenfeshie area also requires a ford crossing that can become inaccessible after heavy rain. Teams should therefore be equipped for demanding off-road fieldwork and coordination with estate staff on site access and constraints.

## Notice

The Cairngorm National Park Authority (CNPA) Peatland ACTION team are commissioning pre-application surveys and protected species surveys for planned peatland restoration projects within its operational area. Pre-application surveys are used to quantify the peat resource where the restoration is to take place, determine eligibility for grant funding, and inform design of the restoration works. The surveys will also provide baseline data for future monitoring of restoration outcomes and habitat condition. The data derived from the surveys and subsequent design work may be used by the landowner or their representatives for the purposes of Peatland Code registration. Protected species surveys are required to provide data to inform restoration design and identify potential ecological constraints. Detailed methodologies are provided for both survey types alongside this SOR.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The detailed schedule relates to the site(s), listed in the table 1 in the tender documents. Where multiple sites are listed consultants can bid for individual Lots or all Lots. If an individual Lot is bid for, all surveys and sites listed under that that Lot must be included in the bid. Maps of the survey area(s) are provided at the end of this document. High resolution maps will be available for surveyors with spatial data including site outlines and grid survey points where applicable (100m, HIA and 50m). There are hill tracks that access most of the survey areas however the survey will involve covering large areas of exposed, upland terrain off-road. Monie Mhor, Glenfeshie, also requires a ford crossing which may be inaccessible following heavy rain. Estate staff need to be contacted prior to the survey to arrange specific dates for access and to confirm any constraints present for each survey area. Contacts will be available from the CNPA following the contract award.
