Summary of the contracting process

The Home Office, located in London, is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Next steps for Biometric Self-Enrolment Technologies." This initiative focuses on the development of biometric sensors and related technologies, with key engagement culminating on 5th August 2022. An open engagement event will take place on 14th July 2022 to discuss the Home Office's vision for biometrics, following previous feasibility trials conducted in late 2021.

This procurement process presents significant opportunities for technology firms, particularly those specialising in biometric systems, optical character recognition equipment, and fingerprint readers. Businesses that can contribute innovative solutions in self-service kiosks or smartphone app development would be well-positioned to compete. The engagement event will allow potential bidders to align their offerings with the Home Office's requirements and network with key stakeholders in the industry.
