Cambridge City Council - Engagement Event for Market Electricity Project
Notice Description
Cambridge City Council would like to engage with suppliers regarding the city centre markets electrical works. Below is the background and requirements. Approximately 10 years ago, major work was undertaken to upgrade the electrics on the Market stalls. This involved the installation of 2 x 16 Amp sockets in a box on each of the 99 pitches. It is our understanding that each row of between 7 and 9 pitches runs on its own "circuit" of sorts. There is a fuse box at the end of each row and a large one in the underground level of the market. Since the introduction of Hot Food onto the market and with its increasing popularity and increased load on this system, it has become clear that the infrastructure is struggling to support the amount of usage traders are placing on it. This has been made obvious by fuse boxes tripping out and the need to reset several times a day, especially on days when the market is at full occupancy. The idea at this time is to introduce a 32A system that can carry additional usage as well as the provision for LED lighting on each pitch. In addition, we would also like to enquire about the possibility of "metering" the boxes on each stall to better monitor and charge with a system that is based on usage. We are hoping to achieve a system that can manage the usage of our current traders at full capacity as well as having the potential to "future-proof" any installation by ensuring it will be able to cope with demands of an ever-changing market. We would also be interested to hear from companies about the post-installation maintenance side of any project in terms of repairs and callouts where possible. NEED: - Upgrade amount of load infrastructure can withstand - Move from 16A to 32Amp - Allow provisions for LED lighting on each pitch WANT: - Metered boxes per pitch - Post-installation maintenance/callouts for repairs The event will allow Cambridge City Council an opportunity to engage with experts in the electrical and will allow you to engage with the Council to shape the specification requirements for a procurement process. The event will take place in the city centre (venue to be confirmed) on Monday 21st March 2022 at 10:00am and will include a site visit to the market. If you wish to attend, please send a message via the Proactis portal https://procontract.due-north.com with your company name, and attendees name and email address by 4:00pm Friday 18th March, all attendees will receive email confirmation and venue details the week commencing 14th March. Key Dates * Event 21st March at 10:00am * Reply 18th March by 4:00pm * Invites w/c 14th March
