Summary of the contracting process

The Bristol City Council is initiating a tender for an Extra Care Housing Scheme (Care Contract) with an estimated budget of £225,000. This procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with the contract expected to commence on 1st April 2020 and run for one year until 31st March 2021. The council aims to gauge market interest before determining the best procurement route, which may include a request for quotation process. Interested parties should note that the current contract involves approximately 270 care hours per week for 27 service users located in the South West of the United Kingdom.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) specialising in health and social care services. Suppliers with expertise in care provision and a willingness to adapt to new specifications are particularly well-suited to compete for this contract as the council seeks a new provider capable of delivering high-quality care in an extra care housing setting. Bidders will also need to consider the implications of Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations on the future procurement process.
